A night of music [My World]

@ mirandablue
One of the pleasant ways to spend a hot and humid Saturday night in Manila is to enjoy free outdoor performances.  There's the Concert at the Park at the Rizal Park open-air auditorium, a 24-string guitar quartet every Friday afternoon this November at Paco Park Presents, ballet performances, and film screenings at Cinema-in-the-Open-Air under the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  Malls have their own shows and they're also for free.  One of my friend's daughter is studying violin and she invited me to this free concert of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at the Eastwood Mall.

The orchestra played a variety of classical pieces like Rhapsody in Blue as well as contemporary music such as Lady Gaga's Poker Face in orchestral arrangements. People at the mall stopped for a while to enjoy the music, even Fritz relaxed and listened.  The concert sure reached a sincerely appreciative audience.

A great way to spend an evening and a great way for the musicians to share their gift.

Some of my happiest times have been attending live concerts. This is such a pleasant way to spend some time. Your pictures did a great job of showing that the lighting is also very nice to help the mood along.:)

that would be fun to listen to gaga's sound in classical version. i really like this kind of transformation. i wish they would do a lot of it, always wanted to hear rock music being performed by an orchestra.

My kind of entertainment, music and art appreciation. A way of young kinds to show off their talents.

Sounds like a fun evening.

What a wonderful treat for everyone! And I have never seen or heard a 24-string guitar in person.

A lot of organization and volunteer time involved but so nice for the population at large to have somewhere to go that is cultural and does not drain your purse.

Wow! I thought the backdrop looked familiar. When was this? I live in the area but was away during the weekend. I would have loved to have caught it. :-)

Your musicians are wonderful. I've done 78 cruises with Royal Caribbean and they always have a trio playing from your country and they are very talented. Of course, your countrymen/women work in various capacities on board ship and, over the years, I've been blessed to call many of them friends!
