Lasang Pinoy, Sundays: On a Stick

A familiar sight not only in the streets of Metro Manila but also in the provinces. This photo was taken in Davao City...in a row of turo-turo near the cathedral. I'm not very fond of chicken BBQ and street foods but I love grilled isaw (chicken intestines)---the orange bunch that looks like worms.:D I was introduced to isaw and fish balls about ten years ago by my sister and cousin who were then students of UP Diliman. Aside from being one of the top universities in the country, UP Diliman is famous for its tasty street foods---the aroma of grilled isaw is enough to make me drool.

But as much as I love isaw, I seldom indulge myself. Isaw is one delicious chow that is potentially dangerous and could result to a trip to the ER.

I must say the street food in the Philippines is really a tempting site (and the smell - wow!). Despite that I am also worried at how clean and safe those are... I used to love fishballs and bbq, though.

Street food can so tempting but like what you said, we have to be extra careful so we won't end up at the hospital.

Hi Luna, Naku favorite ko din itong Isaw. I always make it a point to take home some sticks coming from work...Layo mo pala, sa Davao..Naku nagutom tuloy ako hehehe

i really liked that one isaw we used to have back in college, i guess it was safe since it's recommended by a friend, so she said:)and i agree, it has a different/drool worthy grilled aroma:)

I am also a bit scared to taste street foods...maybe its the best way to get hepatitis or an amoeba.
But...it looks good !

i love everything on a stick EXCEPT innards, haha! my bestfriend contracted hepatitis from eating them once, i learned my lesson vicariously. :D

and yes, UP diliman is a great place to get educated - on eating isaw. :D

Pinoy street food must be great nowadays. I wonder whether my fav foodie/traveler guy has yet visited the Philppines. I am talking about "No Reservation's" Anthony Bourdain.

I am not that game to try various innards unless I know who prepared them... like kare-kare, etc. I am afraid once I get hepatitis , that's it you got it for life... but then life is too short not to eat!
