Kalesa [Ruby Tuesday]

Kalesa or karitela is a horse-driven carriage introduced to the Philippines by the Spanish in the 18th century that only the rich and high-ranked officials could afford. The kalesa has become a rarity these days and can only be seen in historical areas and tourist belts like Binondo and Intramuros in Manila, Vigan and Laoag City.

This carriage can carry 2 passengers and a kalesa driver. These kalesas were parked in Tiendesitas, a shopping destination showcasing locally-made products. Kids and adults can enjoy a kalesa ride around Tiendesitas for a fee.

Undesirable [Photo Hunt]

This is how Fritz looks like pinned down on the floor with my mother's submission hold. No, Fritz is not being abused or tortured---my mother is looking for something undesirable, like fleas. Fritz would sometimes growl in protest but most of the time he's very submissive.

"Help me, mommy! She's on attack mode today!"

Dusky sunset [Sky-Watch Friday]

This dusky sunset will forever remind me of warm summer nights. Then I thought of you and how you love this beauty.

Steamed fish with beancurd and black mushrooms

If you're a frequent visitor of my Friday food post, you'd notice that I eat steamed fish on a regular basis. Steamed fish in various presentations---this one is not photogenic though:p Well, I enjoy trying something new. It's a 3-layered dish I tried in Fu by Hai Shin Lou at Serendra---steamed fish between layers of beancurd and black mushrooms. I would have tried their Peking duck but we were not really hungry that night. We consumed tall cups of fruit shakes while waiting for the canceled pyro olympics---a real bummer.

It was our first time at Fu, and their menu looks interesting but a bit pricey. But yes, their Peking duck is in my wish list.
