Noise/Ingay

                                                                                                                                                       Cebu City, March 2010

I know that many of our streets are accessible only to tricycles and motorcycles.  These are convenient and inexpensive mode of transportation.  Sad to say, the noise these machines bring is annoying and disruptive.  Some has even loud speakers that could wake up the dead!  Noise pollution is one of the problems we urban dwellers face.  And I don't think noise pollution in our neighborhoods would be reduced in the near future.

1.  What do you consider the most annoying noise?
2.  What is your favorite sound?

Just another bridge

@ mirandablue
Just another bridge we crossed in Ilocos Sur on the way to Vigan.  I don't know the name of this bridge...this was before we reached the town of Santa.  The railing is the generic design on bridges built in the last 20 years or so.  And that's a tricycle cruising along.

Amburayan bridge [Sunday Bridges]

Amburayan Bridge is the gateway to Ilocos Sur, a 535-meter truss bridge crossing the historic Amburayan River, the biggest river in Ilocos.  A boundary between the provinces of La Union and Ilocos Sur, this bridge is located in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, about 316 kilometers north of Manila.

Tricycle [My World-Tuesday]

In remote areas like Caramoan [where this photo was taken], in  town  and city streets where buses and jeepneys are not allowed to operate, tricycles are the most common means of transportation.   A tricycle is a motorcycle with a sidecar (a passenger cabin)---a local taxi-service with three wheels that will drop you off  at your exact destination.  Tricycles are commonly seen in inner roads, often for short distances.   It fits into alleys and smaller streets, dirt roads, and even in places where there are no recognizable pathways.  Fare is seven pesos (or about 15 cents) per person.  But if you're in a hurry and don't want to wait for other passengers to fill up the tricycle, you need to pay for the maximum capacity, and it's called a "special trip".
