Covered [Photo-Hunt]

Caffeine deprivation, the sea breezes and the sun made me drowsy while waiting for high tide at Sabitang Laya, one of the islands in the Caramoan Peninsula. I looked for some shade to take a quick shut-eye while my friends were perfecting their jump shots, and found a huge and hollow rock by the shore. It was a cool place and I took a nap covered by a rock, with cracks!

Balak [plan] - Litratong Pinoy

Matagal kong pinagmuni-munihan ang trail map ng Eden Nature Park---balak ko sanang ikutin ang 4-kilometer trail sa pamamagitan ng paglalakad. Pero pagkatapos ng halos tatlong oras na pamamasyal sa kagubatan at medyo naligaw pa kami, sumuko na ako. Hindi nakayanan ng tsinelas ko.:p

I contemplated long and hard at Eden Nature Park's trail map---I planned to walk around the 4-kilometer mountain trail to get some exercise while enjoying the flora and fauna. But after nearly three hours of walking in the forest, we got lost somehow and almost screamed for help (just kidding!), I surrendered. My slippers just couldn't handle it.:p

Litratong Pinoy: dito lang [only here]

The water buffalo is found throughout Southeast Asia, but our humble, hard-working carabao, a sub-species of the water buffalo, is indigenous to the Philippines. The carabao is normally black, so imagine my surprise and amazement when I saw this albino carabao in Zoobic Safari. The albino carabao is exceptional as a white cow, a "kanobao" as my friend fondly calls it, because it has the same color as a white person. This cute, white carabao is proudly Filipino!

Ang kalabaw ay matatagpuan sa buong Timog-Silangang Asya, ngunit ang ating maamo at masipag na kalabaw ay dito lang makikita sa Pilipinas. Ang kalabaw ay karaniwang itim, kaya akalain mo ang aking pagkamangha nang makita ko ang pambihirang albino na kalabaw sa Zoobic Safari. Kasing tisoy s'ya ng puting baka, kaya tinawag itong "kanobao" ng aking kaibigan, dahil pareho sila ng kulay ng isang kano. Kahit tisoy ito, maipagmamalaki nating Pinoy s'ya!

Nakasakay ka na ba sa kalabaw? Fake na kalabaw pa lang ang nasasakyan ko---sa iskultura ng kalabaw sa Lola's Garden, sa Eden Nature Park sa Davao noong isang taon. Naka-side view pa!:P

Sky-riding in Davao

One of my adventures in Davao was the "Skyrider" at Eden Nature Park. It was a heart-pumping experience, and I have proven once again that I'm still not too old to try something new.:D My cousin, Franzia, was quaking in her feet and almost backed out. "What's the worse thing that could happen?" I asked her. "Well, I could die!" was her answer. I assured her that I'd call her insurance agent first if anything would happen (I'm bad!). In the end, I convinced her to do it. And boy, she's glad she did it!

Located about 2,600 feet above sea level and overlooking Davao City, "Skyrider", also called "death slide", is an adventure anybody should try. It's a typical zip-line that consists of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on 2 towers. The cable is about 200 meters long (one way) and 50-60 feet high. A safety harness and helmet are requisite so I was not worried.

While sliding down hanging from a cable, I snapped some photos and enjoyed the view of the city and Davao Gulf. It was definitely the highlight of my trip.
