Circles & Point/Photo Hunt

Circles used as design element in fashion accessories.
Through the years, I have noticed that circles are often used by designers
to create a point of emphasis and interest to hold a viewer's attention.

A combination of colors, complemented with other shapes,
a circle is a great focal point in fashion jewelry.

Necklaces have been a part of women's outfit for centuries.
Necklaces can be light and trendy to heavy and elaborate.
It compliments a woman's outfit, enhances the total look.

Blue Monday: Raffia bag

@ mirandablue
Can't help but reminisce of summer while looking out the window on this rainy afternoon.   If it's still summer in your part of the world, I'm sure you'd love to add zest to your summer getup with this raffia purse. Woven raffia was decorated with dyed coco and wooden beads.

Blue Monday: Summer's over

@ mirandablue
The endless rain is making me blue.  Summer is definitely over.  Flip flops are water-resistant but I'm not sure about the shell purse. I need to reorganize my closet soon...something I'm not looking forward to.

Colorful necklaces

My first Color Carnival---colorful bunch of necklaces scattered around my work table. I couldn't resist sharing these colorful pieces after visiting Ebie's Color Carnival post. Not part of my daily get-up, but these complete the outfits of many women in some parts of the world. These necklaces were hand-crafted in Cebu and getting ready for their trip to America soon.

Litratong Pinoy: paboritong alahas (favorite jewelry)

I'm crazy about fashion accessory, they are more fun to mix and match with everyday clothing. The necklace above is made from fresh-water pearls and amethyst, a violet-colored ornamental stone for jewelry. Below is another necklace made from fresh-water pearls and turquoise, also a semi-precious stone. I bought these from a jewelry designer based in Sorsogon City during the National Trade Show.

I'm not sure on the material used on these red earrings but this is my favorite nowadays. I bought this pair from Avatar's outlet store in Bellavista Hotel in Cebu. These are all made by Filipino hands.

Litratong Pinoy: asul (blue)

There are different kinds of blue---indigo, cyan, turquoise, aquamarine, royal blue, sapphire, cobalt blue, etc. Shades of blue are present in the whole fashion calender. In fact, blue is one of the bold colors that will keep our wardrobe bright this year. These are from my kikay kit---necklaces made of wood, shells, seeds and resin. Designed and made in Cebu, these are sold in London stores.

Photo-Hunter: strings

I've been racking my brains on what to post in Photo-Hunter's "string" theme. I thought of string bikinins and stringed musical instruments but I don't have those in my photo archive. But in my overflowing kikay chest, I have unearthed these treasures. In the top photo are strings of fabric-covered balls that made up this rose de Pompadour-inspired multi-textured necklace. I wore it over a plain white cotton sleeveless top. Below is a delicate piece made from strings of natural green shells and beads---perfect for a hot Saturday night dress. These kikay accessories were created by Cebu designer Butch Carungay. Butch has opened a shop in the posh Greenbelt 5 called Atelier Avatar.

Kikay, by the way, is a Filipino slang for girly, sassy, spirited, chic.
