Max's Pancit Canton

Pancit Canton is ever present on every Filipino dining table at every occasion, from birth to death and in between. While I am more of a Pancit Bihon kind of girl, I couldn't say no to my mother when she's craving for Max's Pancit Canton. She cooks a mean Pancit Canton at home but taking her to Max's to eat Pancit Canton is a real treat for her---it's probably her comfort food.

Like you, I've tasted different versions of Pancit Canton---from the typical turo-turo to Aristocrat, from Buddy's to Ado's to Ma Mon Luk, Panciteria San Jacinto to Dahlia --a motel in Pasig (pancit aficionados swear Dahlia's pancit canton is legendary). But my mom's favorite is not bad at all--it's actually delicious and not drowned in oil. I suspect my mother has some nice, unforgettable memory that goes with Max's pancit canton.:p

Life's a beach [Watery & Outdoor Wednesday]

The beach is in my blood, like a sea turtle, I always return to it instinctively. When we were kids, the beach was the only place where we could play in the sand, splash in the water, and soak in the sun without our mother getting mad. The only place we were allowed to get dirty, get wet, walk and run barefoot. I am always happy when I'm at the beach...when I smell the salty water, feel the sea breezes, listen to the gentle lapping waves---they create a sense of peace.

"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun."

Nalusuan Island [My World]

Another islet 40 minutes from the Hilton pier, located between the islands of Bohol and Mactan, is Nalusuan Island. It is the crowning glory of Olango Reef in Cordova, Cebu. Originally a sand bar, Nalusuan Island was reclaimed to allow the construction of the resort which occupies the entire island.

The island measures close to a hectare, it has a 260-meter wharf and a stretch of white sandy beach. Nalusuan Island is a marine sanctuary--a favorite destination of divers, and the protected coral garden and rich marine life are great for snorkeling.

Water sports, rooms and cottages are available at the resort.

Silangan Bridge [Sunday Bridges]

A drive-by photo of Silangan Bridge, an expressway interchange near Exit 45 of South Luzon Expressway. The bridge connects the expressway to Silangan Industrial Park, it's also an alternative route to Canlubang and the rest of Laguna province.

Drive-by shooting [SWF]

One of the ways to amuse myself when stuck in traffic, and I'm not driving, is take pictures. Shooting at the sunset kept me entertained while Sally was driving at the South Luzon Expressway on our way to Tagaytay. Traffic was slow that Labor Day weekend, the three girls at the back were snoring. I was singing out loud but the spirited car karaoke didn't wake them up--too tired from doing nothing.:p
Here are some of the pictures along the way.
