A declaration of love for Ruth carved written in tree trunk.
Love for country inspired a martyr to write a poem on the eve of his execution. Now etched on marble at the Rizal Park, "Mi Ultimo Adios" (or My Last Farewell in English) is a patriotic swan song written by Dr. Jose Rizal on the night before his execution on December 30, 1896.
A great find indeed. May time and life continue to write the Good and Kind for you.

That is an amazing tree stump! Very pretty song, too.
ReplyDeleteFind it interesting that both your choices for this week's Photo Hunt are actually not written in the conventional sense but, rather, carved (on a tree and out of a stone surface). FWIW, I had problems finding actually written out words this week -- so much these days is printed, etc. instead!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent idea for the theme. Love the shot!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
buhay na buhay yung puno! I let my Spanish-speaking colleagues read Mi Ultimo Adios once and they were impressed on how beautifully written this piece was!

It's always quite sweet to see things like that carved into trees, although I hope the trees don't mind.
ReplyDeleteDespite the popularity of texting, wala pa ring tatalo sa pag-ibig na itinaga/isinulat sa puno! hihihi
