These are my feeble attempts at the World Pyro Olympics two weekends ago. China and Germany showcased their dazzling fireworks synchronized with musical scores. Fireworks excited the spectators at The Fort open grounds despite the rain---we were watching from the parking lot with an umbrella.
Canada and Australia were supposed to compete last weekend but after waiting for about an hour, we learned that the organizers decided to postpone the pyro-musical competition because of unpredictable weather and safety considerations. Show dates were moved to January 2010.

You did well! It is so hard to get night-time photos (at least for me!). Even day-time photos are hard for me when I'm all excited and can't wait to finish taking one photo before moving to take the next. I think I need patience as well as a tripod! :)
ReplyDeleteDid not know that there was such an olympic contest.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography indeed. Making light me night, at twenty past three in the morning.
Please have a wonderful Friday.
Great shot of the fireworks. I love fireworks though makes me high lOL!! ^_^

ReplyDeleteThe snaps have come pretty good. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the photos very much. I guess the show has to go on even with inclement weather.
ReplyDeleteI don't think these are feeble attempts at all - they are wonderful!

Arrrgh! I missed that one! I was in a bazaar selling chuvaness. We passed by the Fort and we can the see fireworks from C5 unfortunately the traffic was jammed so it's a boo hoo! Better luck next time for us.
ReplyDeleteGood choice of holding the Pyro Olympics at The Fort rather in MOA. Where do you prefer?

ReplyDelete@ Al, i prefer the new venue, it's a few minutes from my place. can even see the fireworks from my landlord's terrace.:p
ReplyDeletethe traffic that Saturday was really bad, it was raining so it was from bad to worse. all vacant lots and streets in The Fort were filled with cars in a just a matter of minutes. better come early in January.
@ Lawstude
ReplyDeleteyes, they got invites pa from the organizers sabi ni Dominic. yeah, do watch it--it's spectacular.
You've got better shots. I learned from other blogs that they had a hard time securing a clear snap because of the weather.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I wonder if there will be any fireworks in January.... too much rain....seems like a lame excuse to me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...your pictures look great!
@ Sidney
ReplyDeleteI hope the organizers would stage the Pyro Olympics in January, rain or shine. I was really disappointed that they canceled it.:(
My pictures look more like an explosion (LOL).
@ witsandnuts
ReplyDeletethank you...buti na lang may taga-payong ako kaya shoot lang ng shoot.:p

ReplyDeleteBeautiul. I have always found it difficult to photograph fireworks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful fireworks photos! The colors are wonderful. Great captures.
ReplyDeleteI was there too.. Sayang nga ang shots because of the clouds... I hope to be there on the next shows.
