Mount Arayat: Breaking dawn/SWF

A drive-by shot of Mount Arayat from NLEx while dawn was breaking at the horizon, lavender and faintly gold.

Mount Arayat is an extinct stratovolcano located in a flat agricultural region of Pampanga, rising to a height of 1,026 meters.   Ten miles to the west is Angeles City and the former Clark Air Base.  Mount Pinatubo is located 10 miles further west.  Locals consider Mount Arayat as a mystical mountain, and said to be the home of the god/sorcerer "Sinukuan" or a fairy (diwata) known as "Mariang Sinukuan".  Sinukuan is said to live at the White Rock, a lava dome possibly formed by the last eruption, where its glimmering properties were most likely to have inspired the legend.

Dreams/SWF

The fresh, tangy scent of the sea gently lures you to this spot---the peace and solitude takes your breath away.

Sunrise, Sunrise [SWF]

@ mirandablue

Men toil by day and love by night,
but only dreamers cherish the light
of sunrise.

So open your eyes to imaginings,
for nothing's ever as it seems
at sunrise.

Good Morning, sunrise! [SWF]

@ mirandablue
I couldn't remember why I woke up early on this particular morning.  But I remember my anticipation to take Fritz on his morning walk.  We weathered a couple of storms these past few weeks and the drab, cheerless rainy mornings start to wear me down.  When I took a peek from behind the curtain, dark clouds concealed the sunrise and I almost went back to sleep.

@ mirandablue
A few seconds later, the sun broke out from the gloomy clouds and burst into view.  This is the sunrise from my bedroom window as it radiates happiness.

@ mirandablue
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Sunday sunrise [SWF]

@ mirandablue
Sunrise on October 10th, Sunday.  Taken from the roof-top of my apartment, this is looking towards the east---to Antipolo.  I enjoyed the orange haze at the horizon as I exhaled a yawn and was ready to hit the sack.  It was a long night!

La Union sunrise [SWF]

...and I thought
how the sun
blazes
for everyone just
so joyfully
as it rises
under the lashes
of my own eyes, and I thought,
I am so many!
What is my name?
What is the name?
of the deep breath I would take
over and over
for all of us?
Call it
whatever you want, it is
happiness, it is another one
of the ways to enter
fire.

Bauang sunrise [SWF]

Captured this sunrise while crossing Bauang bridge (also known as Baung bridge) in La Union on Saturday.  Viewed from the bridge are concrete bridge supports of an old PNR railroad bridge over Bauang River.  Bauang town is 259 kilometers north of Manila.

The blush of dawn may yet restore
Our light and hope and joy once more.
Sad soul, take comfort, nor forget
That sunrise never failed us yet.

LP: Tawid [to cross]

You will gain nothing by sailing the ocean, the sun or the moon if you cannot cross the abyss that separates you from youself.  It is the most important of all voyages of discovery...and without it, all the rest will be useless.

Dawn [My World-Tuesday]

@ mirandablue
One of the rare occasions when I watch the dawn break and enjoy the stillness of an early morning scene. This was taken from the deck of our cottage in Tabgon, overlooking Paniman Bay at the Caramoan Peninsula.

Daybreak at Caramoan [SWF]

Hey, but it's daybreak If you wanna believe, it can be daybreak Ain't no time to grieve Said it's daybreak, if you'll only believe And let it shine, shine, shine All around the world...

Caramoan sunrise [Sky-watch Friday]

My first sunrise in Tabgon, Caramoan, on Good Friday with the breathtaking view of some of the islets around the peninsula.

May I not miss beauty May I not miss joy May I not miss wonder. Keep me awake and aware of the world. It is my privilege to perform my morning prayers. It is my honor to do what should be done. As I rise with the morning, fog lifting slowly from my mind, I pray not to forget these truths.

Sky-Watch, Friday: sunrise in Mauban

Sunrise in Mauban on Maundy Thursday. Heavy clouds loomed at the horizon. I prayed for clear skies to grace our one hour boat ride to Cagbalete Island, and voila!
