Mag-asawang Bato in Padre Burgos - Watery Wednesday

These two tiny rock islets jutting out of sea off the coast of Padre Burgos were visible from the shores of The Tamarind Tree. Approximately 500 meters from the coast, locals call these boulders Mag-Asawang Bato (literally, married rocks). I'm calling them Hiwalay na Bato (literally, separated rocks) because they're about 100 meters from each other. They should be closer if they're married, right? My friend EM mused that it's actually the distance of 100 meters that keeps the marriage alive---yeah, we're still talking about the rocks.:D

During low tide, these rock islets can be reached by foot. I wanted to explore the islets but the low tide happened around 8pm, and it was already dark. These rock islets definitely make the seascape here picturesque.

Funny about the married rocks. ;-) I was thinking they reminded me of a frog's eyes. Hmmm. I like the idea of married rocks better.

You can walk to the married rocks (same sex ba sila?) during low tide! That's interesting, siguro very gentle yung slope.

I've solved my problem and I can comment here now!

There is a house on one of those two rocks? Must be lonely to live on a rock... and yes they might be too close to call them married rocks! ;-)
Beautiful place !

Wow, some nice rocks.I agree with you, this Mag-asawang bato may really have been divorced earlier because of not having enough of the good thing.

What a beautiful beach! Speaking of married rocks reminds me of a story on Dora The Explorer, a cartoon my kids love to watch. There was a story of an evil witch turning a royal couple into stones. It was the Dora's mission to turn them into humans again. Did you try this ;)? Have a great day, Miranda :)

Hahaha! that was a very witty remark you had about the "rocks" and marriage! I also wonder why it is called thus when it is so far apart from each other! But it does make for some interesting conversational pieces! Baka sa gabi, magkasiping sila ;-D!

I like the idea of two married rocks :-) After all pet rocks were a fad awhile back .. so married, slightly seperated rocks makes perfect sense :-)

Nice that you can walk out to them at low tide. Is that hut on the one island, there for people that get marooned?

I love K.D Lang's 'Hallelujah' ..

Funny about the rocks. I'd agree with your friend that it's the distance that makes the happy union. LOL! Wonderful shots!
