Pako/Fiddlefern Salad

Happy New Year, foodies!  Let's start the New year with something healthy after the artery-clogging dishes we consumed during the holidays.

Here's Pako Salad that I made at home---the salted egg was inspired by the Pako Salad I had at Abe in MoA.  The fiddle-fern was blanched, mixed with tomatoes, onions, salt & pepper, a sprinkle of sugar, coconut vinegar, garnished with slices of salted egg and served chilled.  A lip smackin' appetizer!

  2. I've never had this. I have seen many Pinoy bloggers feature this dish, but I haven't seen it here in any restaurants so far.

  4. I love wild ferns! Though I never tried cooking or even making a salad out of it. I had some at Balay Cena Una at Bicol and at Sulyap Cafe at San Pablo, Laguna. Since then I've been looking for it in menus. Happy New Year!

  7. I'm really interested to know how pako (fiddle fern) tastes like, and I'd love to binge on veggies right now after all the cholesterol-laden food I've had last Christmas and New Year.
