Fried Crocodile meat

Yes, I took a bite on the wild side recently with this fried garlicky crocodile meat.  It was actually a dare from a friend while we were getting a little tipsy on SMB Light, sisig, calamari and baked oysters.  Why not try something different?  So there---fried crocodile with blue cheese dip for pulutan.  Crocodile meat is light-flavored so the garlic and blue cheese dip were probably a great idea to add flavor.

The bar manager told me they got their crocodile meat from Morong, Rizal---I didn't know there's a crocodile farm in Morong, do you?.  Let me assure you that this was before the recent crocodile attack in Palawan.:p 

Compared to other meats and if well-trimmed, crocodile is low in fat, low in calories and high in protein, and is considered as a good source of niacin and Vitamin B12. In Australia, crocodile carpaccio is pretty popular as well as crocodile rolls, known to the Japanese as Wani Rolls.

    croc meat is a popular fair/festival eats and I've had it before. honestly, i can't tell the difference between it and other meats :)

    ayay! does it tastes like chicken? hehehe...am just curious...meron din ata dito at may fried crocodile skin din.....interesting! it looks appetizing though....:)

    Oh, I'd like to try that. I'm open to different meats...sounds delicious!:)

    BTW, do the crocodile farmers make the skins into bags and shoes?

    I haven't tried eating crocodile meat before, but I think I'll love it because as you said, it's low in fat and calories. Happy FTF, and thanks for the visit!

    I am not really an adventurous type of person who will eat exotic food, the very reason why my sisters would let me eat something then tell me after that it is a froggy hehehhehe...

    But in fairness, it looks good

    This looks really good. I'm from Louisiana, USA and we eat alligator often down there. I'm not sure how croc compares to alligator but I find alligator to be tasty but kind of rubbery. Was the croc "rubbery", as well? Kudos to you for being so adventurous!!

    @Al, eating bats can be dangerous because they have rabies. i'm not that adventurous.:p

    @ Oggi, it's possible the skin are made into croc leather. there's an exotic skin/leather supplier based in Rizal.:p

    @ Candace, croc meat becomes rubbery when it's overcooked. i'm not sure if it's the same case with alligator meat. thanks for droppin' by.

    Oh my! As in crocodile??? I don't know if I want to taste its meat because I am really scared of crocs- except when they are handbags of course. lol! :)

    by just looking, i will definitely get one, looks really delicious...but knowing now that its crocodile, hmm...baka pass muna ako until someone convinced me enough to try, hehehe! thanks for the visit and yes, we love darah...she's like our family here in penh, i've met and known her parents and sister, as well as her kids! sorry for visiting late from FTF, have a great week! :)

    I think crocodile meat doesn't consider anymore as exotic food since a lot of people eat it.
