From all the colors in the color chart, pink is my least favorite color. I usually enjoy the pink colors in nature---the flowers and fruits, birds and pink skies. But I was mesmerized at the walls of this unique building in Seattle, with its varying shades of pink, purple and gold. This is the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum designed by architect Frank O. Gehry. Built from fabricated steel frame and clad with shotcrete and shell metal panels, this structure is dedicated to the music icon, Jimi Hendrix.
"In 1969 a screaming, reverberating rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix seemed to herald an end to innocence. His resonant lyric "Are you experienced?" is now recalled in the name of software billionaire Paul G. Allen's Experience Music Project. Hendrix would have appreciated the design approach to Seattle's new museum of pop music.
"Architect Frank O. Gehry has made a career out of bending vertical and horizontal lines of building construction into something defiant and sometimes poetic. With Seattle's EMP, opened just over a week before the Fourth of July, he has met his perfect client in Allen and his metaphorical match in rock-'n'-roll. The resulting architecture is a unique performance and a new landmark on the edge of the Seattle Center." Source: GreatBuildings Page

For Thursday Two Questions - you are invited to answer and join:
1) What kind of music moves you?
- Music moves me in ways I seldom realize. It can be an opera, jazz, classic rock, blues. I remember listening to Andrea Boccelli's Romanza cd for the first time...I didn't understand a word but I had goosebumps and almost cried in front of a sales clerk. Pink Floyd takes me to another place. Flamenco music, Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton bring out the rhythm in me. Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker, Nora Jones for my moody soul.
2) How does color affect your mood?
- More often than not, I am unaware that a certain color affects my mood. But in many ways, I use colors to show my feelings. I wear bright red lipstick when I'm feeling crappy. I prefer black when I don't want to get noticed. Red and orange boost my confidence, yellow when I need a favor.:p I love waking up to clear blue skies, green growing things make me happy. Grey mornings get me down, i'm a bit intimidated and curious at anything purple. Sunsets, full moons and fireworks make me emotional---I think it has something to do with colors, too.
Wow that is really pretty! And the design of that building, awesome!
ReplyDeleteIn my blog the bird is called cardinal. ^_^ Thanks for the visit!

1. We have similar tastes in music. Each time I hear "Time To Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, I break down in tears. Carlos Santana has been a my all time favorite. I love all types of music except country. Whenever I'm down or depressed, all I have to do is play music and I'm back to my old self in no time.
ReplyDelete2. Color effects my mood in different ways. When it's grey outside I feel sluggish and tired. When I'm in a garden with greens, browns and floral colors is when I am most alive and energetic.
lovely colors
ReplyDeletebhupesh

ReplyDeleteKulay Rosas
1. I love easy listening music in general, classical music, Andrew Lloyd Webber/Philharmonic Orchestra-type music, Cirque du Soleil, Barbara Streisand, Cher, Country, Sacred/Spiritual music, such as chants, sounds of nature.
ReplyDelete2. I love color, but more in my home and in nature than in my clothing. I prefer shades of red, butterscotch, and brown in my decor. In nature, anything goes.
ang galing naman ng disenyo ng gusaling yan, de color pa.
ReplyDeleteYour first photo is particularly stunning.
ReplyDelete1) Music that speaks to me move me, whether it is the lyrics or the sounds. I don't have a particular genre that I prefer, but I know screaming music isn't one of them, and very fast ones that I can't hear the words.
ReplyDelete2) Black is my soul color, when I feel I need security, wearing black makes me feel ok- other colors doesn't give me the same type of comfort or confidence.
BTW- Since I have Trinity, I love pink. :-)
The colors in that building are stunning.
ReplyDeleteMy taste in music depends on my mood. I love hard rock and some metal but the next time I might be listening to classical. This past month Celtic has been my fav.
I'm more of a gray/black with splashes of bright color. Like you pink is not a favorite unless it is in nature.
sister pareho pala tayo hindi masyadong mahilig sa pink (kasi hindi bagay sa kulay ko na negrita :P)
ReplyDeleteang ganda nga ng structure kakaiba.
ReplyDeleteoooh, i like! ganda ng form ng building. i wonder why wala tayong mashadong "creative" na bldgs dito?
ReplyDelete1. Music moves me in many ways and it's not just one kind to many varieties, and depending on the mood.
ReplyDelete2. Yes color can affect my mood. I love bold Caribbean colors and cannot stand drab bland colors. While dh wont paint the walls how I want them, I can make curtains to fill in for the drab walls.
Enjoy your weekend.
I love that architecture. This is the reason why some say it is frozen music.
ReplyDeleteI like Chick Corea, Sting, U2, and for locals I love Pinikpikan, and acapella songs by Loboc choir.
Color affects mood and energy. Surprisingly, pink flatters your face, a certain blue inspire favorable response from people which some use for interviews and presentation (this works 99%!), white and black or non-color is my fave. Black calls attention.
1) Depends on the type of music I'm listening, some gospel music touches my soul and makes me feel closer to God. Classical music makes me feel like creating..
ReplyDelete2) I haven't noticed the color affect on me, but gray sky in the winter seems very dragging to me.
1) I like meaningful music, a song that tells a story, or beat that makes me feel happy.
ReplyDelete2) I love all colors! They always seem to make me feel better.
