Standing [Photo Hunt]

Sta. Maria Church  @ mirandablue
16th century churches in Ilocandia remain standing after centuries of natural and man-made calamities.  On top is the bell tower of Santa Maria Church in Ilocos Sur, below is the beautiful Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte.  Both churches are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

  9. I think it's very beautiful. I like how it's weathered by time and remains standing. Great choice.

  10. I think the tropic's heat and humidity have made the structures look older than they are. So it's a real tribute to those who constructed them that they're still standing after all these centuries!

  14. These are two awesome shots. It is so fascinating the difference in the way the two churches have aged through the years. You captured them so beautifully I feel like I am actually standing there looking at them in person.

  21. These churches look almost as if the could be naturally occurring formations of the earth. I love them both. You've photographed them beautifully, too. The top one especially looks like a vintage postcard, old and other-worldly.
