From all the food we consumed that night at Abaca, this is the only photo I was able to manage. And I can't remember what it's called---too much wine, I s'pose.
But I remember this was my appetizer--smoked salmon with a delicious potato salad underneath and garnished with sun-dried tomatoes. Everybody at the table agreed that it's too pretty to eat but I demolished it anyway.
It was my second time at Abaca, an ultra-chic boutique resort and restaurant at Punta Engano in Mactan, Cebu, just a few meters away from the Mactan Shangri-la. If you don't mind the exorbitant prices (prices are + 10% service charge and 12% VAT), you would feel pampered at this restaurant. The waiter assigned to our table was very attentive, and he even gave us a tour of the resort (at my request) after dinner. Abaca Restaurant has been a toast of food lovers since its opening a few years ago. Yes, this place is a gourmet oasis and they serve great-tasting food.

This looks really yummy! I thought it was a dessert at first, and I haven't had any wine! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a mouth-watering picture. I love fresh salmon! Especially the ones that melt in your mouth. That's one reason why I like going to Japanese restaurants :-)
ReplyDeletelooks like an ice cream to me, ehehe. itsura pa lang e masarap na.
ReplyDeletemy entry today is Pakbet
You're not supposed to say no to salmon...haha! Devour lang ng devour! Gusto ko yan and the sundried tomato, ayan I'm tempted and I'll attempt to make some ;)
ReplyDeleteYumm.
ReplyDeleteyummy!. I was told Mactan is a lovely place. I'll try to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteWow...looks good !
ReplyDeleteHow many bottles of wine did you say? ;-)
10% service charge is not bad but what is a 12% VAT? I would not mine giving an extra tip to your attentive waiter.
ReplyDeleteIt looks yummy, but I'm not sure if one scoop is anough for me, lol!
ReplyDeleteYummy! It's almost a shame to devour its goodness. Yum! Yum! YUm! Oh I can hear my rumbling stomach..time to eat :)
ReplyDelete@ bertn, no problem with the 10% service charge. 12% is the value added tax and most of the good restaurants in Manila already incorporated VAT in their prices. but with Abaca, you have ++ in your total bill.
ReplyDeletemy ever favorite salmon.sooo yummy

I wouldn't mind of the tax plus vat if the service is good and the foodies are great.I love fancy dining with wine but I guess hanggang izakaya na lang kami dito or some other kid-friendly restaurant. How envious!!Magkakasundo yata tayo sa wine lol!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend,LM!!
Looks yummy, Luna... and by the way you described the place, it really is a sosy restaurant. Mukhang sulit naman sa serbisyo. It would be great to have fine dining once-in-a-while, but otherwise, mamumulubi ako! *lol*
