From the port in Sabang, it takes about 2 hours by outrigger boat and approximately 70 kilometers of mountains and rugged coastline to reach Guijalo port in Caramoan. This is the most isolated place I've ever been to, but I'm glad I went. These photos were taken on the first leg of our island-hopping on Black Saturday. The top photo is Gota Village Resort, said to be owned by the provincial governor of Camarines Sur. Gota Village Resort is closed to the public so we docked at the island across Gota, called Malindog.
Our first island was a 30-meter stretch of fine white sand---a rock by the shore, limestone cliffs and foliage grace our slice of paradise. I have no idea how many islands are there in the Caramoan peninsula but our boatman said there are 10 must-see islets---except that a few of them are closed to the public. These islets are unexploited and pristine. I hope they would remain that way.

hi, melandria! yes, we went to CWC on Easter Sunday and wanted to try wakeboarding. but the line was long. the sport looks interesting, i'd like to try it one of these days.;P
ReplyDeletedo they allow campers there? i do hope this place remains untouched by developers. i'd hate to see a starbucks near the cliff.
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to keep any place pristine, isn't it? Once the world knows about it, there goes the neighbourhood!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place. Pristine is becoming scarce!
ReplyDeletengayon ko nga lang din narining ang pangalan ng lugar na iyan eh :D
ReplyDeletePero mukhang maganda talaga syang bakasyunan, view pa lang nakakarelax na.

ReplyDeleteOMG, two hours by outrigger! I hope the water was calm!
ReplyDeleteOf course, it is worth that trip, the Island is beautiful! The lush greenery and the rock formation is simply gorgeous!
Wow, looks like a fantastic place. It sure looks like a great holiday spot!
ReplyDeletewe have the same prayer for Caramoan. I was actually having second thoughts talking about it in my blogs but being so proud of it won over and i ended up posting the pictures in my blog. I really hope we'll take good care more of our country, it's really beautiful.
ReplyDeletesayang, hindi ka nakapag-wake board. Perhaps on your 2nd time to CAMSUR.
Btw, regarding Ebie's comment: people can actually choose from traveling by outrigger or by car. The car would take about 5 hrs travel according to the people we've talked to.
hi, Maritess! the local government and the people in Caramoan should make sure that future developments wouldn't destroy the natural beauty of the place. problem is, there are "interested" people already taking advantage of their power and treat some islands as their own personal property. the locals are complaining why some islands are no longer accessible to them and the public. sabi ko nga, wag nilang botohin!:p
ReplyDeletea friend from Naga said it's about 10 hours by land (from Naga to Caramoan) and the roads are just terrible. masisira sasakyan mo.
i was a bit concerned by knees aren't strong enough for wakeboarding.:p
Gorgeous landscape! For me like a holiday dream.
