Ang sabi nga ng lolo kong si Epictetus, "He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has."
The Greek philosopher Epictetus once said, "He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has." We often take for granted expressing heartfelt gratitude for the many blessings we have been given. Instead, we focus our attention on the things that we desire and aspire for. Because of a yearning for greener pastures, a beautiful sunset becomes inconsequential, the constant things in life that used to provide comfort becomes trivial---the gaze is fixed beyond the horizon.
Being grateful and appreciative of people and things in our life magnetize more of the things that we truly value.

Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.

ReplyDeleteHappy New Years to you and yours.
Lovely shot! Wind and sun are going to sleep, and cloud puts blanket on them...
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Luna!
It's always good to look at the New Year as a time to get it right...but hopefully I hope we all got a little bit right in 2009. I know I found your lovely little blog, so I did at least one thing right :-)

Maligayang LP at manigong bagong taon!!

I learned this from a priest friend. He told me once, be always thankful for every little things that you received, good or bad kasi kahit daw bad, there is something good that will come out out of it. Great post Luna.
ReplyDeleteMy entry, wishing you and your family a fruitful new year!

ReplyDeletehappy new year :)
this is a very inspiring post. often we are so focused on going after what we don't have that we fail to be grateful for what we already have.
ReplyDeletedon't drink too much bubbly tonight.
